Up in the Air

Shooting basketball can be challenging if the lighting in the gym is poor. I was lucky in this instance because the lighting was not that bad. I was able to shoot at 250 sec at 3.5 at ISO 800. The way to make your shots stand out is to use two lights to create a nice highlight which makes the images pop. In this shot I used a Quantum Qflash with the diffuser and a Lumidyne battery pack. The Qflash is set for 1/4 power and aimed out to the key. I used my Canon 550 on camera set at -2. It adds just enough fill so the shadows are opened up and the ambient light shows the crowd in the background. I used my 70-200 which worked perfectly to catch the action.
