Coming up For Air

This weekend I was up at a local prep school for their winter sports carnival against their arch rival. I shot boys and girls swimming and basketball for one for the schools. I have not been a big fan of shooting swimming because of the humid conditions and the horrid lighting. This day was a little different however with a nice window lighting one end of the pool. I created a back rim light with a 200 watt second light bounced off the wall and ceiling at the other end of the pool. This allowed me to produce some nice results at ISO 400. This shot was made with a 70 - 200 at f 2.8 at 250 sec. This technique of lighting makes the shot look more natural. If I had added a strobe on camera for a better fill light it may have looked more unnatural.
