Turf Battle

The annual Phillips Andover vs Phillips Exeter football rivalry is one of the longest in history and is always a great game no matter what year it is. This year was no exception. The game was played in Exeter NH on the schools' new artificial turf field - really cool stuff. This shot was made with the Canon EOS1 d MKll and the Canon 300 f2.8 with the 1.4 x extender. Unlike most high school games the sideline is very well controlled with not a lot of people roaming around. The photogs had plenty of room to find a spot to shoot. This shot was made from the end zone which with the lens setup I use is the best place unless the action is well down the other end. I also carry another camera with a 70-200 f2.8 for shots as the game action gets closer.
